What that mileage & age mean
- By this mileage the spark plugs should already have been replaced. Ask for the bills, not just a verbal yes.
- These are still young (about 5 years). Wear isn't the main worry, accident repairs and a genuine odometer are, so weigh paint depth and panel gaps over service items.
Where to look hardest on a Tata Nexon
- On a diesel, have the turbo, injectors and (where fitted) the DPF checked, and confirm the timing belt's service history, these are the expensive failures.
- AMT: a short pause on each shift is normal. A long hesitation, a jerky pull-away or trouble selecting a gear points to clutch or actuator wear.
- Dual-clutch (DCT): creep in traffic and pull away on a slope on the test drive. A judder or shudder at low speed, or a gearbox warning light, points to clutch-pack wear. Ask whether any clutch or mechatronics work was done under warranty.
- Turbo petrol: watch for blue smoke on a cold start and listen for a whistle or a loss of boost. Regular oil changes matter more on a turbo engine, so read the service record for them.
- Whatever the paperwork says, check the reading on the clock against the service and insurance records, an odometer can be wound back and the dashboard alone won't show it.
