What to check on this one at 49,000 km
- Timing chain, not a belt, so no scheduled change. A rattle for a second on a cold start points to a stretched chain: listen for it.
- At 49,000 km the schedule has already called for: brake fluid. Ask to see the bills.
- On an automatic, feel for jerks or slip on a test drive and ask when the transmission fluid was last changed, a rebuild is dear.
- Still young, so wear is not the worry: accident repairs and a genuine odometer are. Paint depth and panel gaps tell you more than the service book.
