What to check on this one at 16,100 km
- Timing chain, not a belt, so no scheduled change. A rattle for a second on a cold start points to a stretched chain: listen for it.
- On a diesel, have the turbo, the injectors and (where fitted) the DPF checked: those are the expensive failures.
- Still young, so wear is not the worry: accident repairs and a genuine odometer are. Paint depth and panel gaps tell you more than the service book.
- Torque-converter automatic: shifts should be smooth, with no flare in revs between gears and no delay engaging Drive or Reverse. Ask when the gearbox oil was last changed.
