What to check on this one at 18,00,000 km
- At 1,800,000 km the schedule has already called for: transmission fluid, spark plugs. Ask to see the bills.
- On a diesel, have the turbo, the injectors and (where fitted) the DPF checked: those are the expensive failures.
- On an automatic, feel for jerks or slip on a test drive and ask when the transmission fluid was last changed, a rebuild is dear.
- At about 10 years old, rubber and electrics matter as much as the engine: hoses, bushes, the AC compressor, and rust in the sills and boot floor.
