What to check on this one at 57,506 km
- Belt-driven engine, and at 57,506 km it is at or past the ~60,000 km timing-belt change. Ask for the bill, or budget for it: a snapped belt wrecks the engine.
- At 57,506 km the schedule has already called for: brake fluid. Ask to see the bills.
- On a diesel, have the turbo, the injectors and (where fitted) the DPF checked: those are the expensive failures.
- Still young, so wear is not the worry: accident repairs and a genuine odometer are. Paint depth and panel gaps tell you more than the service book.
- Torque-converter automatic: shifts should be smooth, with no flare in revs between gears and no delay engaging Drive or Reverse. Ask when the gearbox oil was last changed.
